“Do. Or do not. There is no try.”
You must know this famous quote from Jedi Master Yoda to Luke in the Empire Strikes Back Star Wars movie. What does it mean?
If you enter into a fight with the mindset of trying to win you probably wont. At minimum you won’t succeed to the degree you would if you go in believing you WILL win. The same rings true with setting New Year resolutions or goals. If you don’t set SMART goals with the mindset that you can achieve them, then you won’t.
SMART goals are: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-bound.
Lets discuss SMART financial goals relating to mortgage financing. They may include buying a home, upgrading or moving to a larger home, paying down your mortgage faster or using the equity in your home to get ahead financially. That little voice in your head keeps saying, “I’ve got these great goals but I’m not going to achieve them because I don’t know what the next steps are or the right questions to ask.” At this point you won’t win the fight. What advice would Yoda give?
